Biography
Dr. Spirit Brooks is the Program Director for the OSU Extension Outdoor School Program. She earned her Ph.D. from the University of Oregon in Critical Sociocultural Studies in Education, a M.A. in Anthropology and Women and Gender Studies, a M.Ed. in College Student Services Administration from Oregon State University, and a B.S. in Political Science with a focus on Environmental Justice from the University of Oregon. As an educational anthropologist, Spirit is committed to research practices that are rooted in collaboration, are community-centered, and focused on equity in outcomes in outdoor education for youth from marginalized identities and communities, particularly Indigenous youth.
